India beat Sri Lanka by 278 runs, level series 1-1

24th August, Colombo (CRICKETNMORE) - India bowled out Sri Lanka for for 134 runs in the second innings to win the second Test match by 278 runs at the P Sara Oval ground here on Monday.Sri Lanka were 130/9 at lunch with India needing just a wicket to level the series and the hosts could add only four runs to their total after lunch. With the win, India level series at 1-1.

Toss - India won the toss and opt to bat first

1st Innings (India) : KL Rahul 108 & fifties from Kohli (78), Rohtit (79) and Shah (56) helped India to score post 393 in the first innings of the 2nd test match. For Sri Lanka left-arm off-spinner Rangana Herath bagged 4-81, while Dhammika Prasad, skipper Angelo Mathews and Dushmantha Chameera picked two wickets each.

2nd Innings (Sri Lanka) : Angelo Mathews (102) and Lahiru Thiramanne (62) and Kaushal Silva (51) help host Sri Lanka to score 306 in their first innings. For India Mishra is the most successful bowler withfigures of 4-43 while Ishant (2-68), off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (2-76), Stuart Binny (1-44) and Umesh Yadav (1-67) were also among the wickets

3rd Innings (India) : India declared their second innings of the second cricket Test against Sri Lanka at 325/8, setting a 413-run win-target for the hosts. Resuming the day at 70/1, Ajinkya Rahane (126) and Murali Vijay (82) were the main scorers for India who extended their 87-run first innings lead to 412 runs.For Sri Lanka, pacer Dhammika Prasad (4-43) and off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal (4-118) shared the Indian wickets. The duo didn't allow the Indian lower-order to score freely after claiming Rahane and Rohit Sharma (34).

4th Innings (Sri Lanka) : Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra spun a web around Sri Lanka to skittle them out for 134 runs . Sri Lanka were 130/9 at lunch with India needing just a wicket to level the series and the hosts could add only four runs to their total in the post-lunch session. With the win, India level series at three-match 1-1. For the visitors, off-spinner Ashwin returned figures of 5-42, while his-teammate leggie Mishra grabbed 3-29 to complete India's resounding victory
