England beat Sri Lanka by 81 runs in rain affected match
22nd May, A brilliand allround display ensured England beat Sri Lanka by 81 runs under the DL method in a rain interrupted ODI at the Oval overnight.
Alastair Cook: "It was a very professional performance. Sometimes we end up in the receiving end of Duckworth-Lewis and sometimes we don't. Overall it was a good win. Everyone did well. Obviously Gary Ballance played very well. It was an impressive batting performance without knowing what was the par score. The way the guys struck the extra 30 runs especially of Malinga at end made the difference".
Angelo Mathews: "It was a pretty poor performance by the whole team. We have the best 2 bowlers bowling at pressure situations but unfortunately it was an off-day for them and English team batted very well. Weather was frustrating but you can't control it. The wicket played very well and there wasn't much spin. Missed a trick may be. We have 4 more games to go, need to keep the heads high and bounce back."
