7th May, Cuttack - Punjab beat Chennai by 44 runs

Glenn Maxwell incredible batting continued against Chennai as well. An explosive 38-ball 90 helped Punjab scored a comprehensive 44-run victory over Chennai in the Indian Premier League match, in Cuttack, on Wednesday night.

Scorecard - Punjab vs Chennai

Glenn Maxwell: The pitch was lovely, the ball was coming on very well. We got a few away. The pressure was right on them the whole time. Me and Miller love batting together. We love to get out and have a bit of fun. I practice that reverse hits, we need to try to keep expanding your game. It is fun to hit the ball to different parts of the ground. it is nice to be on the top of the table, hopefully we will stay there. We thought the pitch would be a bit slow, but we got a few hits away and suddenly the run rate just jumped. The crowd was great, the Punjab fans were fantastic through out.

Glenn Maxwell is the Man of the Match for his yet-another-stunning-knock.

George Bailey: I don't have any words to say about it. It was extraordinary hitting. The game will change, that was almost the future, what we have seen here. They gave themselves time to get themselves in, they got used to the wicket and they were intelligent to play. I had a bit of luck tonight with my shots. This is a bigger ground, the spinners were crucial. We could have defended harder, but our bowlers did really well today. Chennai have been the bench mark for every team, it is good to beat them.

MS Dhoni: I think Maxwell batted exceptionally well and was supported by all the other batsmen. Once they got momentum it was tough. Once our spinners came to bowl, they got plenty out of them. Maxwell took them apart. You need some serious talent to do repeat these kind of knocks. Maxwell has special talent. We used to talk about Virender Sehwag or Sachin Tendulkar at their best. Maxwell at present looks to be at his best. It is very important in a tournament like this to take care of Net Run Rate too. If we had go to a fantastic start in the first 6 overs, we would have gone after the total but we lost Smith early. So once we lost our way, we decided to work on the net run rate.
