A good captain one must lead by example says Gambhir
March 16 (CRICKETNMORE) - Gautam Gambhir makes a comeback to the Delhi based Delhi Daredevils after a span of 7 years to take guard at Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. A lot has changed since Gambhir’s departure from the Daredevils camp and he returns for a second innings as a two-time winner of the coveted trophy.
Gambhir is adamant on replicating his Kolkata Knight Riders’ success story with the Daredevils this season and believes the team has the right mix to lead them to their first ever VIVO IPL title.
Speaking exclusively to Star Sports ahead of the upcoming season of VIVO IPL 2018, Gautam Gambhir said, “We have a great mix of players this season- be it big hitters like Maxwell or youngsters like Prithvi or Pant. I believe we’ve got a good combination which can deliver in diverse conditions. All we need to right now is get on the field and get off to the right start. With this squad we have got a lot of options, looking at the wicket and venue we can pick our team.”
He further added, “A captain is only as good as his team. I believe, to be a good captain one must lead by example and justify his place in the side first. My first primary job will be to contribute with the bat and try to deliver as much as I can as a player. Captaincy is an added responsibility and I hope my experience will help us as a side to deliver formidable performances this season.”
