AB de Villiers becomes fastest cricketer to reach 9,000 ODI runs
Feb. 25 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa Superstar AB de Villiers becomes the fastest player to reach 9000 runs in ODI. He did this in the third ODI against New Zealand in Wellington on Saturday. The 33-year-old knocked off former India captain Sourav Ganguly's record of 228 innings, getting to the milestone in 205 innings.
De Villiers is the 18th player and second South African behind Jacques Kallis to reach the 9,000 mark but has the highest average of 53.86 to do so. Among all the batsmen in the '9000 Club', de Villiers also boasts the best strike-rate of 99.94.
