WATCH: Abdul Samad's Century Takes Jammu Kashmir To First-Innings Lead Against Pondicherry
Ranji Trophy 2022: Jammu Kashmir's Abdul Samad, who caught the limelight in the IPL with his hard-hitting for Sunrisers Hyderabad, has now shown why he was retained amongst the three players by SRH.
In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Jammu & Pondicherry, the 20-year old batter smashed 103 runs off just 78 balls, with 19 fours and 2 sixes, at an amazing strike rate of 132.05. Abdul's knock helped Jammu & Kasmir to assert a first-inning lead against Pondicherry in their opening fixture in Ranji Trophy 2022.
Abdul Samad made a statement in the IPL when he showed muscle and power-hitting for Hyderabad-franchise. SRH were so impressed that they retained the uncapped player, along with pacer Umran Malik and Kiwi captain Kane Williamson.
While talking about the match, after being put in to bat first, Pondicherry posted a total of 343 with a century from PK Dogra (108) and a fifty from S Karthik (63). For J&K, Parvez Rasool was the best bowler with 4 wickets, while Umran Malik picked up 3 and Ram Dayal, Abid Mushtaq and Abdul Samad picked up 1 wicket each.

In reply, J&K posted 426 with Abdul Samad's century and fifties from Qamran Iqbal (96), Jatin WAdhwan (69) & Shubham Singh Pundir (51). Sagar V Trivedi picked up 5 wickets, Sagar P Udeshi picked up 3 and Fabid Ahmed picked up 2 wickets, as J&K managed a first-innings lead of 83 runs.
