The Indian team will go back to the hotel with a smile after a decent performance on the field by the bowling line up in the second warm-up game against Australia A on Friday.

Indian bowlers not only took Australian wickets but played a crucial role with the bat as well. Jasprit Bumrah scored his maiden first-class half-century at the time when the team was 123/9. He, along with Mohammad Siraj, added 71 runs for the final wicket to push the team to 194 in the first innings.

Earlier, Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch suited for the bowling. Opener Mayank Agarwal was back in the pavilion early in the innings before Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill added 63 runs for the second wicket. Shaw played a quick knock of 40 runs off 29 balls, which included eight fours, while Shubman Gill scored 43 runs with the help of six fours and six.

After the departure of Shaw, the Indian team lost wickets in quick succession. With the score of 123/9 on the board, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj started to play their shots and frustrating the Australian bowlers.

Bumrah reached his fifty with a six on a bouncer. He also smacked Cameron Green's head with a straight shot forcing him to leave the field, and eventually out from the warm-up game. He is replaced by Victorian batsman Patrick Rowe as the concussion substitute.

Australia's batting, too, failed in the bowling friendly conditions. Jasprit Bumrah picked up Joe Burns in the second over of the innings. After a rain delay, Mohammed Shami bowled lethal deliveries, keeping the batsmen guessing. Shami and Navdeep Saini took three wickets each, Bumrah took two wickets while Mohammed Siraj got one wicket.

A total of 20 wickets fell during the first day of the game. Australia A got all out for 108. India will start day 2 with a lead of 86 runs on the board.

Brief Score:

India - 194/10 (Jasprit Bumrah - 55*, Shubman Gill - 43; Jack Wildermuth - 3/13)

Australia - 108/10 (Alex Carey - 32; Navdeep Saini - 3/19)
