AUS V SA, 2nd Test: Cameron Green's Fifer Thwarts South Africa To 189 In The 1st Inning
Aus vs SA: Australian pace attack led by Cameron Green showed an awestruck show that helps Australia to put down South Africa to 189 on the opening day of the Boxing Day test that is being played at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
After winning the toss the home team came to the field first. The bowlers set fire to the stage and wreck havoc on the visitors. Scott Boland and Cameron Green started giving blows to the Proteas team right from the start as Sarel Erwee (18) and skipper de Bruyn (12) departed early.
Soon skipper Dean Elgar (26) got unlucky as he got run out by Marcus Labuschagne while he was batting comfortably. Bavuma (1) and Khaya Zondo (5) couldn't able to put impact with the bat.
At one time South Africa lost the top 5 wickets for 67 but from here struggling Proteas innings were supported by Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen, who tricked the fifties and made a much-needed partnership for the team.
Verreynne scored 52 in 99 balls whereas Jansen smacked 59 runs which took South Africa to an average score. Both the players registered 112 run partnership for the 6th wicket before they were sent back to the pavilion by Cameron Green in quick succession.
For Australia, pacer Cameron Green was the star of the first inning who grabbed 5 wicket haul which completely demolished the opponents. Apart from Green, Starc got 2 wickets, and Boland and Nathan Lyon dismissed one batter each.
