29th July (CRICKETNMORE) - Australia need 268 runs to win the first Test against Sri Lanka in Kandy as the home team bundled out for 353 in their second innings.

After rain delayed the start of play on Friday, century maker Kusal Mendis was dismissed by Mitchell Starc (4-84) for 176 in just the third over. For Australia, Starc picked 4 wickets whereas Hazlewood and Lyon took 2 wickets each. Also Check NZ vs ZImbabwe 1st test Scorecard

Australia's poor record of chasing sizeable totals on the sub-continent is stark. Their only successful Test run chase above 200 in the region was when they made 307 against Bangladesh in 2006 in Dhaka. It won't be a easy target to chase as the pitch is offering turn and Australian batting struggled against the Sri Lankan spin attack in the first innings as well.

The two left-armers did the job done in the first innings - Herath took 4-49 while Lakshan Sandakan on debut took 4-58.
