England will meet Australia in the first of the five Ashes tests at the Gabba, Brisbane. Australia will be defending the Ashes in this series.

AUS v ENG Match Preview:

Australia have confirmed the test debut for Alex Carey, who will be donning the keeping gloves in the 1st test. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne will be the key batters for Australia. 

Australia have unsurprisingly gone with their four main bowlers - Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon. Cameron Green will be the fifth bowling option. 

England will have plenty of pondering to do for their playing XI. There is no confirmation if Ben Stokes will be there in the 1st test. Haseeb Hameed is likely to open with Rory Burns. Joe Root will be the key. 

It has been announced that James Anderson will miss the first test to manage workload, which means Ollie Robinson and Stuart Broad will feature in the XI. Jack Leach is likely to play. Chris Woakes could be the gamechanger with both bat as well as the ball.
