In one of the biggest upsets of 2011 World Cup, Bangladesh surprized everyone with a stunning victory over England. It was the second time when England lost an ODI to Bangladesh.

England who were earlier beaten by Ireland suffered another defeat from Bangladesh.

11th March 2011 -  England vs Bangladesh, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. England was clearly the favourite going into this match. However, Bangladesh bowlers proved everyone wrong with their disciplined bowling and dismissed England for just 225 in 49.4 overs. Only Eoin Morgan (63) and Jonathan Trott (67) showed resistance against Bangladesh bowling.

Chasing down a modest target of 226, Bangladesh openers gave a good start of 52 before Tamim Iqbal was bowled out for 38 by Bresnan. The other opener Imrul Kayes continued to score runs and took the total to 155/3. In the 31st over, Imrul Kayes was run out for 60 and the match took a u-turn. A sudden collapse of middle order put the the home team on the backfoot as they lost next 5 wickets for just 14 runs. Bangladesh were struggling at 169/8 waiting for the defeat.

But as always said cricket is a game of uncertainties and battle wasn't over. What happened next was a brilliant fightback by Bangladesh lower order batsmen - Mahmudullah and Shafiul. First they scored 16 runs from Graeme Swann's 42nd over of the innings to swung the momentum back in favour of the home side. With 39 runs needed from 48 balls, both the batsmen played carefully operating in singles. Bangladesh left the Batting Power Play for the last five overs, with 33 needed off 30. Both the batsman guided team to a thrilling victory with 6 1 over left. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 21 off 42 balls, while Shafiul stayed undefeated on a run-a-ball 24, which included four boundaries and the only six of the match.

A big moment for the Bangladesh as this victory kept Bangladesh's World Cup chances alive.
