IND vs BAN: In a last-ball thriller, Bangladesh defeated India by 5 runs in the 2nd ODI to build an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series. Along with half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, Rohit Sharma made a valiant comeback to bat in times of trouble but in the end, fell short by 5 runs.

Chasing 272 runs to win, India went off to a terrible start. While Rohit Sharma didn't open the innings due to a thumb injury he sustained in the 2nd over of the 1st innings, Virat Kohli opened the innings along with Shikhar Dhawan. Kohli (5) was yet again dismissed by Ebadot Hossain in the 2nd over and Dhawan (8) followed his former captain in the next over against Mustafizur Rahman.

Washington Sundar was promoted to #4 and lost his wicket in the 10th over after scoring just 11 runs. Stand-in captain KL Rahul also failed to deliver and was dismissed for 14 runs in the 19th over, when India were reduced to 65/4, with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel at the crease.

However, these two seemed to be batting on a different surface as they etched a partnership of 107 runs in 101 balls for the 5th wicket. Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer with his 82 runs off 102 balls but failed to keep his calm and stay at the crease till the end. However, after hammering India with the bat, Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Shreyas in the 37th over to bring back the game in Bangladesh's favour.

Axar Patel, who scored 56 runs, was also dismissed in the 39th over and India looked out of the contest. However, to the surprise of everyone, out came Rohit Sharma. And, he made it impactful as he smacked 51 runs off just 28 balls, laced with 2 fours & 3 sixes with an injured thumb.

Rohit took on Mustafizur in the last over as India required 20 runs to win. Rohit smacked three consecutive fours and played a dot ball to bring the equation down to 12 off 2. Rohit smacked a six and kept the game alive till the last bowl, but a brilliant yorker by Mustafizur sealed the series for Bangladesh.

In the first innings, after dismissing the top order cheaply, India yet again struggled against the lower order batters as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah steered Bangladesh to 271/1 in 50 overs in the 2nd ODI.

Courtesy of Siraj's opening burst and Washington Sundar's 3 wickets in 2 overs along with Umran's fiery pace, Bangladesh were at 69/6 at one time. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah held the crease firmly for the hosts as they added 148 runs in 165 balls for the 7th wicket.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was the star for Bangladesh in the 1st ODI, maintained his form and smacked his first One-day International as he scored 100 runs in 83 balls with 8 fours & 8 sixes, while former captain Mahmudullah scored 77 runs in 96 balls with 7 fours.

Mehdy Hasan Miraz became only the 2nd batter ever to smack a ton while batting at #8. Nasum Ahmed came on to bat in the 47th over and gave a good finish with 18 runs off 11 balls, laced with 2 fours & a six.

For India, Washington Sundar picked up 3 wickets while Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik grabbed two wickets each.
