BBL 10: Coulter-Nile, Maxwell Helps Stars Beat Heat Comfortably By 6 Wickets
Melbourne Stars won an easy game against Brisbane Heat to start their Big Bash League(BBL) campaign on Friday.
Hilton Cartwright and Glenn Maxwell made sure the Stars won the match comfortably and quickly despite losing three wickets early in the innings. Maxwell scored a quick 26-ball-46 with the help of three fours and three sixes. Cartwright made sure he finished the match to take the team home. His innings of 46* included four fours and a six.
Earlier, Stars captain Glenn Maxwell won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision turned out to be a good one as the Heat struggled to get going. With a powerplay score of 19, the pressure kept on building up and batsmen kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Tom Cooper top-scored with 26 runs while Chris Lynn and Max Bryant scored 20 runs each.
Nathan Coulter-Nile was the star of Melbourne's bowling attack picking up four wickets in his quota of four overs while giving away just ten runs. Maxwell mixed his bowlers well to keep the batsmen guessing. He bowled a total of seven bowlers during the Heat's innings.
