Sydney Sixers, on the back of Daniel Christian and a disciplined bowling attack, defend 178 run target against Adelaide Strikers in the 11th match of Big Bash League(BBL) on Sunday.

Strikers were off to a flying start during their run chase as they scored 47 runs in the four overs of powerplay. However, Sixers' bowlers came back by picking up wickets at regular intervals and putting pressure on batsmen by restricting the run flow.

Adelaide eventually fell short of the target by 38 runs to give four points to Sydney Sixers. Steven Okeefe picked up two wickets, conceding just eight runs in two overs.

Earlier, Strikers captain Alex Carey won the toss and opted to field first. His decision turned out to be successful as the Sixers were not able to score quick runs. Sydney was 58/3 at the start of the 12th over before a storm named Daniel Christian arrived at the crease.

Christian smacked the second-fastest fifty of BBL history in 15 balls with the help of five sixes and four fours. After a 16-ball-cameo from Christian, Sixers' captain Daniel Hughes continued to the momentum and stayed till the end to take the team to a competitive total. Hughes scored 46 runs off 41 balls.

For Strikers, Daniel Worral picked up two wickets and conceded just 12 runs in his four overs.

Brief Score:

Sydney Sixers -  177/5 (Daniel Christian - 50; Daniel Worral - 2/12)

Adelaide Strikers - 139/7 (Jonathan Wells - 35*; Steve Okeefe - 2/8)
