Ben Cutting further supported Callum Ferguson to finish the game as he hit 29 runs from 16 balls, which included four boundaries and a six. Ferguson remained not out at 61 in 53 balls. He hit seven fours and a six during his innings.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh also played a captain's knock of 52 to take his team past the 150 run mark. Thunder bowled a disciplined line and length to restrict the run flow of Scorchers.

Adam Milne made his debut for Thunder and conceded just 17 runs from his four overs.
