Cricket journalist Boria Majumdar has been officially banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) after being found guilty of intimidating veteran Indian cricketer Wriddhiman Saha.

The BCCI's committee comprising vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia which was formed to investigate the issue found Boria's WhatsApp messages 'threatening and intimidating' towards Wriddhiman Saha.

"As you may be aware, Mr. Wriddhiman Saha had shared screenshots of messages sent by a journalist on the social media platform, Twitter, wherein he stated that he felt bullied by the conduct of the said journalist. Mr. Saha in the hearing named Mr. Boria Majumdar as the journalist," the BCCI interim CEO Hemang Amin wrote.

After investigations found that Boria's actions were indeed threatening, the BCCI committee imposed strict sanctions on the journalist that included being banned for two years from getting accreditation as a member of the press for any cricket match in India. Boria won't be allowed to interview any registered player in India for the next two years and his access to any BCCI-owned cricket facility has been canceled.
