IPL 2022: David Warner Goes Back For A 12-Ball-4 Upon His Return To Delhi Capitals; Watch Video
LSG v DC IPL 2022: A foreign player with probably the most sympathy from the cricket fans, David Warner made his return to the franchise he played for on his debut, after 9 years. However, the return didn't go according to the fairy tales and the southpaw departed with a single-digit score on his return.
Opening the innings along with Prithvi Shaw, Warner was stationary at one end. Shaw scored 51 off 31 balls while Warner had just scored 4 runs off 11 balls. After Shaw was dismissed for 61 runs in 34 balls, Warner was also dismissed on the very next delivery. And with this, the return of the prodigal son was spoilt.
Ravi Bishnoi, who has dismissed 11 Left-Handed Batters at an average of 16, struck against the southpaw. In the 3rd delivery of the 9th over, Bishnoi delivered a short length delivery which was angling away on wide of off stump. Warned reached the ball to cut and managed a top-edge which went straight o Ayush Badoni at backward point. The youngster completed the catch and Warner was dismissed after a very unusual inning from him.
David Warner, who captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to 2 IPL titles and has remained as the highest run-getter among foreign batters in the IPL, was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, after stripping him off captaincy mid-season and handing it over to Kane Williamson. It'd be interesting to see whether or not this move by SRH proves accurate or foolish.
