David Warner Wins 'ICC Men's Player Of The Month Award'

35-year-old left-hander opener from Australia, David Warner has been rewarded for his good run post-IPL 2021 and has been awarded the 'Men's Player of the Month' award for the month of November.

Apart from David Warner, Pakistan's Abid Ali & New Zealand's ace pacer Tim Southee was nominated for the title but Warner emerged victorious after the 'public voting' round. 

David Warner scored 209 runs in 4 T20I matches he played in the month of November. He averaged 69.66 in these 4 matches, with an impeccable strike rate of 151.44. These 4 matches were all played in the concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where Australia were crowned champions. 

David Warner scored 53 runs off 38 balls in the T20 WC final against New Zealand while chasing a target of 173, and was adjudged the man of the match for his match-winning performance with the bat. He also scored a crucial 49 against Pakistan in the semi-finals, and another match-winning knock of 89* runs in 56 balls against West Indies in the group stage. Warner was also adjudged the 'Player Of The Tournament' in the T20 World Cup 2021 for his impeccable performance. 

Let's have a look at how the other nominees fared. Tim Southee, the right-arm pacer from New Zealand, participated in 7 T20Is and 1 test match. Southee picked up 10 wickets in 7 matches and helped his team reach the finals of the T20 World Cup. In the only test he played, against India in November, he took 8 wickets, which helped New Zealand to draw the match at Green Park, Kanpur. 

However, Southee went wicketless in the T20 WC finals against Pakistan and gave away 43 runs. This is where Warner must've trumped him, as he was the player of the match in the finals and won the World Cup for his team.

The other nominee - Pakistan's Abid Ali, was a completely random nomination for this category. He played just one match in November - a test match against Bangladesh, where he scored 133 runs in the 1st innings & 91 in the second innings, closely missing out on twin century on his debut.
