In latest developments, Indian fast bowling-all rounder Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to an injury. Chahar was announced as one of the travelling reserves in the India squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia. The bowler was being looked upon as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement, but Chahar himself has been ruled out. However, an official confirmation for the same is awaited from the BCCI.

After making his return to the side in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Chahar was ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa due to a back injury.

According to a report by PTI, fast bowler Mohammad Siraj and all-rounder Shardul Thakur will leave for Australia on October 13th (Thursday). The three bowlers will join team India in Perth.

Shami is the most prominent name to replace Bumrah in the Indian team. Due to a positive Covid-19 result, Shami was ruled out of the T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home. After passing a fitness test at NCA in Bangalore, Shami is ready to join the team in Australia. Apart from this, Siraj has been rewarded for his stellar performance against limited over series against South Africa. Siraj was adjudged the 'player of the series' in the series against South Africa.

BCCI may announce Bumrah's replacement after these three players join team India in Australia.
