WI vs IND 2nd ODI - After losing the first ODI by a bare margin, hosts West Indies came out with good intent in the 2nd ODI while batting first. The openers thrashed Indian pacers, adding 65 runs in just 9 overs for the first wicket. However, spin was introduced through Deepak Hooda, who sent Kyle Mayers back to the pavilion on his first delivery.
Indian pacers - comprising Mohammad Siraj, Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur failed to pressurize the Windies batters inside the powerplay. The openers - Shai Hope & Kyle Mayers added 65 runs for the first wicket in 9 overs.
Captain Shikhar Dhawan turned towards spin as he introduced Deepak Hooda in the 10th over. On the very first delivery, Kyle Mayers was batting on 39* runs with 6 fours & a six. Hooda bowled a regulation off-spin delivery from around the stumps and Mayers chipped it back to the Indian all-rounder, who gleefully accepted and completed the catch.
Kyle Mayers was dismissed yet again against off-spinner after getting a good start, scoring 39 runs off 23 balls with 6 fours & a six. On the other hand, India grabbed their opening wicket and managed to slow down the run rate a bit.
