Delhi Beat Rajasthan By 33 Runs, Moves To The Top Of Points Table
A collective team effort helped Delhi Capitals(DC) beat Rajasthan Royals(RR) by 33 runs in the 36th match of IPL 2021 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Chasing a target of 155, the Royals more or less lost the match inside the powerplay as they lost three wickets and could only score 21 runs.
Even though Sanju Samson tried to pull things back from his end, none of the batters from the other side could hold on and build a partnership with their captain. Mahipal Lomror added 31 with Samson for the fourth wicket but in 36 balls.
Rajasthan never got the momentum they needed and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. With Samson not out on 70 from 53, Delhi won the match by 33 runs to move to the top of the points table
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Delhi lost its openers - Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw - early in the powerplay as Capitals could only score 36 in the first six overs.
Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant added 62 from 45 balls to set a platform for a good finish. After chopped one to the stumps on 24, Iyer too followed his captain back to the pavilion after two overs.
Shimron Hetmyer scored a quick 28 from 16, but Delhi couldn't finish at what they would have preferred.
