The runners-up of the inaugural edition of Women's Premier League, Delhi Capitals will look to make this season count and complete the unfinished business to their first ever title in WPL 2024.
WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Preview
DC had a brilliant season under Meg Lanning in 2023, and she will be back leading the squad in 2024. Former English women's cricketer Jonathan Batty will be doing the coaching duties. A total of 18 players will feature in DC's current squad, including six overseas. They signed three players at the WPL 2024 auction to add to their squad.
Some Indian stars like Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Taniya Bhatia, Shikha Pandey, and Radha Yadav are part of the squad. The franchise signed Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland (INR 2 crore) along with Aparna Mondal (INR 10 lakh) and Ashwani Kumari (INR 10 lakh) at the auction. The current squad has a number of all-rounders that can contribute to both departments of the game.
The current squad looks pretty good, and the franchise has retained its core players. DC will play the tournament's opener on February 23 against the defending champions, the Mumbai Indians. DC will aim to start with a win and do well this time around, which can help them win the tournament. This season will be the best chance for DC to end the trophy drought that exists with the franchises in the WPL and IPL.
