New Zealand batter Devon Conway is enthused by the performance of some international rookies like Finn Allen, Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell during the Black Caps' recent wins on the European tour against Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands and feels they could be in the mix when the squad is selected for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

The Black Caps' white-ball side won 11 matches across the two limited-overs formats on the Europe tour, and Conway, who was not part of the touring side, felt some of the players had shown tremendous potential to be considered for the global showpiece in October.

"We were watching the guys quite closely in the European tour and obviously they didn't lose a game," Conway said on SENZ Breakfast. "There were quite a lot of players that really put their hands up and really played some really good cricket. It's good to see the depth improving and guys getting an opportunity to play."

Conway felt the performance of the rookies would put pressure on the more established cricketers in the side, adding that the upcoming series against the West Indies will give them another opportunity to stake claim for the T20 World Cup berth.

"It's only my second year with the group but yeah, you certainly feel it (the pressure)," Conway added. You've got the likes of Finn Allen stepping up and playing some really good cricket and you've got Michael Bracewell; seeing what he's done in the UK has been pretty special.

"You certainly do feel guys stepping up and putting in performances... guys are banging the door down so you've got to make sure that you're continuing to contribute to the group," added Conway.
