ENG v IND, 2nd Test: England Bowlers Push India On Back Foot, Score 346/7
England bowlers took advantage of the favorable bowling conditions in the first session to push India on backfoot on day 2 with a score of 346/7 at Lunch.
Resuming the day at 276/3, Ollie Robinson struck on the second ball of the day, removing centurion KL Rahul for 129. James Anderson, in the next over, got the edge off Ajinkya Rahane's bat. The Indian vice-captain scored 1 from 23 balls.
Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja dug in to save a probable Indian collapse and shared a 49-run partnership from 113 balls. Pant, in particular, tried to break the shackles as he scored a chancy 37 off 58 balls.
Pant edged one to the keeper off Wood while Mohammed Shami gave catching practice to Rory Burns as India once again lost two wickets in consecutive overs.
The last 20 minutes saw Jadeja refusing singles to Ishant Sharma as India survived the first session.
