India bowled out England for 391 after Joe Root's special helped the hosts take a 27-run lead on day 3 at Lord's in the 2nd test.

Scorecard

Resuming the day at 119/3, Joe Root quickly reached his fifty - his fourth consecutive against India in England. Although the first hour saw India bowling attacking lines, but no assistance from the pitch couldn't help the bowler's case.

Root and Jonny Bairstow added 121 runs for the fourth wicket. The 2nd session saw Indian bowlers coming up with a short ball strategy and it worked as they got Bairstow out for 57 after he tried to hook one and got the top edge straight to Indian captain Virat Kohli at the slips.

Jos Buttler then joined the record-breaking Root at the crease as two further added 58 runs for the fifth wicket. Ishant Sharma got the breakthrough for India as he swung one into Buttler, who missed the ball that went on to hit the stumps.

3rd session of the day saw Indian bowlers fighting their way back into the game. It all began when Ishant removed Ali and Sam Curran off consecutive deliveries and England was suddenly 341/5 to 341/7.

Siraj was brought in and he started to trouble the new batter, Ollie Robinson. After three close calls, the Hyderabad bowler finally got the decision in his favor as he struck Robinson in front.

It looked like England once again had a partnership building when Root and Mark Wood helped in taking the lead. The stand was broken as Wood got run out for five soon.

James Anderson couldn't survive much as Shami knocked his stumps on the last ball of the day and Root remained not out on 180 at the nonstrikers' end.

India will now come out to bat with a trail of 27 runs.
