England's speedster and their all-time leading wicket taker Jimmy Anderson might miss the upcoming home test series against Pakistan, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Saturday.

The 33-year-old who has 454 test wickets to his name is suffering from shoulder injury which he incurred in the third and final test against Sri Lanka earlier this month. He played an important role in Englands victory against Sri Lanka by taking 20 wickets in the series.

He is definitely going to miss the next two county championship matches with the first test of the four match series beginning on July 14 at Lord's.

"Jimmy Anderson has sustained a stress fracture in the right shoulder blade, which he sustained in the third test match against Sri Lanka at Lord’s earlier this month," read the statement.

"Due to the nature of the injury, Jimmy's availability for the Pakistan test series, commencing on July 14, will be determined following ongoing management and review by both the ECB and Lancashire’s medical teams."
