Melbourne, July 15 - Middle-order batsman Callum Ferguson was on Wednesday called into Australia A's four-day squad which will tour India as replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who will now remain in Britain playing for Yorkshire.

Maxwell will continue playing for Yorkshire after county teammate Aaron Finch was ruled out with a fractured foot.

Ferguson will fly out with the Australia A squad to India on Saturday ahead of their two four-day matches against India A in Chennai. Ferguson will remain in India for the one-day component of the tour, having already been named in the Australia A one-day squad.

"Callum Ferguson has shown he has the capacity to bat for extended periods of time and we feel he will benefit from testing his batting skills in sub-continental conditions," national selector Rod Marsh said.

"Glenn Maxwell will remain with Yorkshire which is a great opportunity to acclimatise to English conditions ahead of Australia's upcoming limited overs series after the Ashes."

Australia A will play two four-day matches against India A starting July 22 in Chennai. Australia A will then play a one-day tri-series against India A and South Africa A starting August 5.

Four-day squad: Usman Khawaja (captain), Matthew Wade, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Joe Burns, Andrew Fekete, Callum Ferguson, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Nic Maddinson, Stephen O'Keefe, Gurinder Sandhu, Marcus Stoinis.

One-day squad: Usman Khawaja (captain), Matthew Wade, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cameron Boyce, Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Callum Ferguson, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, James Pattinson, Gurinder Sandhu, Adam Zampa. Stand-by: Andrew Fekete.
