Gayle Creates History, becomes first to score 10,000 T20 runs
April 18 (CRICKETNMORE) - One of the most destructive batsmen in the shortest format of the game, Chris Gayle has become the first batsman in the world to reach the landmark of 10,000 runs in Twenty20 cricket. Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is No.2 in the list of most runs in T20 games. He is around 2500 runs behind Gayle.
Gayle achieved this milestone in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s match against Gujarat Lions in the ongoing tenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Gayle has played 290 T20 matches - 50 international matches for West Indies in which he scored 1519 runs at an average of 35.32, hitting two centuries.
The remaining 240 matches, he has played in different T20 leagues around the world -- IPL (Royal Challengers Bangalore), the Bangladesh Premier League (Barisal Burners and Dhaka Gladiators), Pakistan Super League (Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars), the Caribbean Premier League (Jamaica Tallawahs), the Big Bash League (Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder), etc.
