Hardik's Fifty & 4-Fer Helps India Cruise To 50 Run Win Against England
ENG vs IND 1st T20I - After notching up his maiden T20I fifty in the first innings, Hardik Pandya picked up 4 wickets as India cruised to a dominating win by 50 runs against England in the 1st T20I. Despite faltering in the death overs while batting, Indian bowlers performed well enough to defend a target of 199 runs with ease, restricting England to 148/10 in 19.3 overs.
England were dealt the first blow in the first over itself as Bhuvneshwar Kumar clean bowled Jos Buttler with a booming inswinger for a golden duck. Hardik Pandya then came on to bowl in the 5th over and removed Dawid Malan (21) and Liam Livingstone (0) in the very same over.
Hardik came on to bowl the 7th over and again struck as he removed opener Jason Roy (4). Harry Brook looked solid in his 23-ball stay but was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal for 28 runs. England went on to lose wickets at regular intervals and ultimately fell quite short of the target.
Moeen Ali was the top scorer with 36 runs in 20 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Chris Jordan also played a knock of 26 runs at the end but it was too late.
For India, apart from Hardik Pandya's 4-fer, Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed 2 wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh & Harshal Patel picked up 1 wicket each.
In the first innings, Hardik Pandya smacked his maiden fifty as India posted 198/8 against England in the 1st T20I.
For team India, Rohit Sharma started with a quick 24 runs off 14 balls with 5 fours. In-form Deepak Hooda followed as he smashed 33 runs off 17 deliveries with 3 fours & 2 sixes. Although Ishan Kishan was dismissed cheaply for 8 runs, the other batters maintained their strike rate.
Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav held the reigns in the middle overs as India smacked 91 runs in the overs between 7-15. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed after scoring 39 runs in 19 balls with 4 fours & 2 sixes while Hardik Pandya went on to etch his maiden fifty in T20I, smacking 51 runs off 33 deliveries with 6 fours & a six.
Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan picked up 2 wickets for England while Reece Topley, Tymal Mills and Matthew Parkinson grabbed 1 wicket each. The English bowlers pulled back well in the death overs to halt India to a total below 200. England conceded just 41 runs in the last 4 overs while picking up 4 wickets.
