SA20: Reeza Hendricks showed terrific form and played a thunderous knock but Sunrisers Eastern Cape remained calm to register a 15-run win against Joburg Super Kings in the 2nd semi-final of SA20. Sunrisers Eastern Cape have set up SA20 2023 finals against Pretoria Capitals, to be played in The Wanderers on February 11th (Saturday).

Chasing a humongous 214 to win, Joburg Super Kings went off to the worse start as captain Faf du Plessis was caught out by Jordan Hermann on the first delivery of the innings, bowled by Sisanda Magala. Leus du Plooy also went for a duck in the next over, and JSK looked in all sorts of trouble with trusted batters out early.

Batting at #4, Reeza Hendricks showed terrific form, probably his best in T20 cricket as he smashed 96 runs in 54 balls, laced with 11 fours & 4 sixes. However, none of the other batters managed to stay on the crease long enough to take the game home. Romario Shepherd smacked a six on the first delivery of the 19th over, bringing the equation down to 38 runs in 11 balls, but to no fruit ultimately.

For Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Roelof van der Merwe picked up 2 wickets for just 23 runs in 4 overs, while Brydon Carse, Marco Jansen and Sisanda Magala managed 1 wicket each. In the first innings, Courtesy of an excellent ton by Aiden Markram, Sunrisers Eastern Cape posted a hefty total of 213/5 in 20 overs against Joburg Super Kings in the 2nd semi-final of SA20 2023.

Sunrisers were off to a bad start as they lost Temba Bavuma in the 2nd over for a golden duck. Adam Rossington was dismissed in the same over for just 6 runs by Lizaad Williams.

From there on, Jordan Hermann and Aiden Markram got together as these two etched a partnership of 98 runs in 70 balls for the third wicket. Hermann was dismissed in the 14th over after scoring 48 runs in 36 deliveries.

Aiden Markram went on scoring at the other end, eventually finishing with 100 off 58 balls with 6 fours & 6 sixes before getting dismissed in the 19th over.

For Joburg Super Kings, Lizaad Williams was the sole wicket-taker with 4 wickets to his name. Super Kings now need to chase down 214 runs in 20 overs to set up the final clash against Pretoria Capitals.
