Hyderabad, May 19 (CRICKETNMORE): Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of the remainder of the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a hamstring tendon injury, it was announced on Thursday.

Nehra sustained a significant hamstring tendon injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15 which his team won by seven wickets.

“The India veteran pacer is now in consultation with a specialist orthopaedic surgeon for the most appropriate course of treatment to ensure a successful return to competitive cricket," Sunrisers Hyderabad said in a release.

"Unfortunately he will play no further part in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad.”

Hyderabad sit comfortably on the top of the points table with 16 points from 12 games and have already qualified for the play-off stages of the cash-rich tournament.

However, they will miss the experience of 37-year old Nehra, who has claimed nine wickets from eight matches with a best bowling figure of 3-15 so far in the tournament.
