The first test between India and New Zealand is set to start on Thursday (25 November) at Green Park, Kanpur. Virat Kohli had decided to rest in the first test while Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Rishabh Pant & Jasprit Bumrah were rested for both the matches.

In massive breaking news coming in from Kanpur, KL Rahul has been ruled out of the first test due to an injury. Reports state that Mayank Agarwal & Shubman Gill will open the innings for the Indian team in the first test.

KL Rahul has played 68 innings in the 40 test matches he has represented the country in. The Karnataka batter has registered 2,321 runs to his name with 6 centuries & 12 half-centuries; averaging 35.17. His highest score in Tests is 199. His injury would be a small spot of bother, as Shubman Gill who was set to be tried as a middle-order batter, will open the innings with Mayank Agarwal.

KL Rahul has suffered a Muscle Strain on his Left Thigh. BCCI has confirmed the news that Suryakumar will replace KL Rahul in the squad, and would most likely make his debut in the Kanpur test match.
