IND v NZ, Day 2: New Zealand Six Down After Ajaz Patel Bowls India Out, Score 38/6
A brilliant afternoon session saw history being made by Ajaz Patel as he bowled India out for 325 but the hosts fought back and picked six wickets to push New Zealand on the back foot on day 2.
Resuming the session at 285/6, Mayank Agarwal reached his 150 just after the session began. However, on the very next ball, Ajaz got him out to pick his seventh wicket and broke the 67-run partnership.
Axar Patel reached his maiden test fifty soon but became the eighth victim of Ajaz Patel. Jayant Yadav scored 12 but Patel removed him and Mohammed Siraj in the same over to become only the 3rd bowler to pick 10 wickets in an innings as India were bowled out for 325.
Indian seamers started brilliantly and it never felt like a spinner had just finished with the figures of 10/119. Both Siraj and Umesh Yadav were on the money from ball one, getting movement in the air and off the pitch.
Siraj found the edge early as he got Will Young caught in the slips. In the same over, Siraj-Kohli trapped Tom Latham in a short ball setup. In Siraj's next over, Ross Taylor lost his off-stump with a beauty of a delivery. Umesh Yadav also asked questions but was unlucky not to get a reward.
Axar Patel was introduced and he got Daryl Mitchell out LBW. R Ashwin joined the party to get Henry Nicholls bowled. In the last over before Tea, Jayant Yadav bowled his first over and removed Rachin Ravindra.
