IND v NZ, Day 4: India Beat New Zealand By 372 Runs, Clinch Series 1-0
It didn't take much of an effort or time for India to wrap up things as they defeated New Zealand by 372 runs to clinch the two-match test series 1-0.
Within 45 minutes of day 4 morning session, Jayant Yadav picked four wickets and R Ashwin got the final scalp as New Zealand batters gave in against Indian spinners while chasing a mammoth total of 540 runs.
Day 3 saw Indian batters setting up a grand total and the Indian top order getting a batting practice ahead of their next assignment in South Africa. Mayank Agarwal had a memorable test match where he top-scored in both innings - 150 & 62.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill scored 47 each while Virat Kohli scored 36. Axar Patel played aggressively for his 41 off 26 balls. India had declared at 276/7.
However, one New Zealand player who will be happy despite a poor outing of the team will be Ajaz Patel, who bagged 14 wickets in this game including a 10-fer in the first innings and became only the third bowler to achieve this feat in a Test innings.
For India, Mohammed Siraj too displayed one of the finest spells in the first innings where he picked three wickets. Although Umesh Yadav didn't get a wicket but he too gave excellent support to the bowlers with his effective bowling.
