IND v SL: India Complete Yet Another Series Win, Clean Sweep Sri Lanka 2-0
Yet another dominating performance by the Indian team helped them beat Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the Pink Ball Test played at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Rohit Sharma-led side clinches the two-match test series 2-0.
Sri Lanka had a rather good outing on day 3 of the match where they looked positive right from ball one of the first session but the Indian bowling was too good for them as they got bundled out within two sessions.
Captain Dimuth Karunaratne led from the front as he smacked his 14th test century on a pitch that kept the batters on their toes throughout the test match. However, the Sri Lankan captain didn't get much support from the other end except Kusal Mendis, who also hit a half-century.
R Ashwin picked up six wickets in the match - four in the 2nd inning - while Jasprit Bumrah got eight - including the first fifer in a home test - as India bundled Sri Lanka out for 208 - 99 runs more than their 109/10 in the first innings.
India's game was set up by Shreyas Iyer's twin fifties - 92 & 67 - on a tough track to bat on. Rishabh Pant too had a good test match where he smashed the fastest test fifty by an Indian in the second innings.
Sri Lankan spinners - Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama - enjoyed their outing at Bengaluru where they combined to take 13 out of 19 Indian wickets fallen.
The match also marked the end of Suranga Lakmal's career. He picked up one wicket in the entire match but was congratulated by the hosts for his contribution.
