India vs Sri Lanka: Ravindra Jadeja starred as India thrashed Sri Lanka by an inning & 222 runs in the first test match at Mohali's PCA Stadium.

It was a historic game for Virat Kohli, who was playing his 100th test match while it was the first time Rohit Sharma was leading the test side.

Rohit won the toss and opted to bat first. All the Indian batters contributed but it was Jadeja's 175* after Rishabh Pant's attacking 96 that took the team to 574/8.

After dominating in the batting, the Indian team was in full control with the ball as well. Day two ended with Sri Lanka scoring 108/4. However, day three was a nightmare for them.

In the first session of the third day, Sri Lanka lost the remaining six wickets and India had no doubt but to enforce a follow-on. It took India another two sessions to once again bowl out the visitors and win the match in a dominating fashion.

The hero of this match was surely Jadeja, who not only scored 175* but took nine wickets as well in the game. The allrounder was on the verge of making a world record of becoming the first player to score 150+ and take 10 wickets in the same match.

With this India finished the first test match with two days to spare and lead the two-match series 1-0. The next match will be the pink ball test at Bengaluru from 12th march.

Brief Scorecard:

India - 574/8D (Ravindra Jadeja - 175*, Rishabh Pant - 96)
