IND VS AUS, 3rd Test: Australia Thrashes India By 9 Wickets, Qualifies For WTC Final
IND VS AUS: Australia finally earns their first win in the third test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which takes them to the finals of the ICC World Test Championship.
Australia bowled out India twice in two days which took them to a serene position to win the Indore test by nine wickets and get their first win of the series.
On day 3, India got a good start while defending meager 76 runs. The ball was in Ravichandran Ashwin's hand and the bowler grasped Usman Khawaja in the very second ball of the first over in the fourth inning but after that world no. 1 Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head close down the game with a tranquilizing chase.
Marnus Labuschagne went on to score 28 runs which included 6 fours and his partner Travis Head smacked quick 49 runs with 6 fours and 1 six.
For India, Ashwin was the only bowler to get a wicket in the form of Usman Khawaja in the fourth inning.
Earlier in the first inning, India won the toss and decided to bat first but their batters didn't favor the decision and fell down to 109. Virat Kohli got the highest 22 runs, and Shubman Gill scored 21 which wasn't a satisfactory game for the Indians.
Australian spinner gazed over India as 9 out of 10 wickets were scalped by them. Matthew Kuhnemann started well by attaining his maiden test fifer, Nathan Lyon Grabbed 3 wickets and Todd Murphy took 1.
In the second inning, Australia started well with Usman Khawaja's 60 runs knock, Labuschagne got 31, and Smith (26) but overall the team grappled to 197. taking an 87-run lead over the hosts.
Ravindra Jadeja (4/78), Ravichandran Ashwin (3/44), and Umesh Yadav (3/13) got success for their team.
It was the third inning which was important for the Indian side as the homies went after reducing the lead and then setting the target but they were dismantled by Nathan Lyon who thrashed 8 wickets alone which halted India to 163.
Apart from Lyon, Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhnemann got a one-one wicket each.
