IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Motera Pitch Likely To Be Another Turning Track
While there is a notion that Pink Ball is more likely to help seamers more than spinners, the Motera pitch might not help the cause.
According to a report in Indian Express, the pitch is likely to be a turning track. With the Englishmen hoping to take advantage of the seaming conditions a pink ball in the day/night test offers, Indian spinners are likely to be more threatening.
“The pitch will be once again going to be a turner. India will look to ride on home advantage as it’s their best chance to qualify for the Test championship final,” a BCCI source said.
The pitch had a grass covering in a few photos that circulated on Twitter. However, the covering will now be cut to aid the spinners more.
Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara was unsure of how much Pink ball will swing during the press conference.
“Early on it might swing a bit, but maybe as the match progresses, it might not be a lot of swing. But we never know with the pink ball. It’s very difficult to predict,” Pujara said.
The SG ball is likely to lose its shine early since the fielding team is not allowed to apply saliva on it and with no grass cover, the dryness will suit the spinners more.
