IND vs SA - India is set to host South Africa for a 5-match T20I series commencing from June 9th at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Both the teams would be eyeing to cement their squad and combinations for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. 

While notable names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli & Jasprit Bumrah are missing from the Indian squad, names like Dinesh Karthik, Venkatesh Iyer & Umran Malik are included to be tried out in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Here are the top 5 batters with the most sixes in India vs South Africa T20Is. 


#5. Heinrich Klaasen (8 sixes)

South African wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen ranks 5th on this list with 8 sixes to his name 3 T20I matches against India, smacking 92 runs at a strike rate of 191.66. The right-handed batter smacked 69 runs off just 30 deliveries in the 2nd T20I at Centurion in 2018, as South Africa chased down a target of 189 in 18.4 overs, winning the match by 6 wickets. 


#4. Virat Kohli (9 sixes)

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has smacked 9 sixes in 9 innings against South Africa in T20Is. The 33-year old batter has 254 runs against the Proteas, striking at 134.39 with an average of 36.28. Kohli has the highest score of 72* twice against South Africa - in the 2nd semi-final of WT20 2014 and in the 2nd T20I at Mohali in 2019. India won both the matches, by 6 wickets and 7 wickets respectively. 

 

#3. Suresh Raina (13 sixes)

Former Indian batter Suresh Raina ranks 3rd on this list with 13 sixes in 11 innings. The southpaw has 339 runs to his name with a strike rate of 148.03 while averaging 33.90. Raina's best knock against South Africa came in a group stage T20 match in WT20 2010, where Raina scored 101 runs in 60 deliveries with 9 fours & 5 sixes as India registered a 14 run win over South Africa. 


#2. Rohit Sharma (14 sixes)

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who left his mark for the first time on the international stage against South Africa in the WT20 2007, has smacked 14 sixes against the Proteas in 12 T20I matches. The explosive opener has scored 362 runs with a strike rate of 134.07 while averaging 32.90. 

In the 1st T20 at Dharamsala in 2015, after being put in to bat first, Rohit Sharma smacked 106 runs in 66 balls with 12 fours & 5 sixes. However, India went on to lose the match by 7 wickets. 


#1. JP Duminy (16 sixes)

Former South African all-rounder JP Duminy stands atop this list with 16 sixes to his name in 10 T20I matches against India. The left-handed batter has scored 295 runs with a strike rate of 121.90 while averaging 59.00.

While chasing 200 against India in the 1st T20I at Dharamsala in 2015, Duminy smacked an unbeaten 68 runs off just 34 deliveries with a four & 7 sixes as the Proteas won the match by 7 wickets with two deliveries remaining.
