IND vs WI: Rishabh Pant & Virat Kohli Exit From Bio-Bubble In Kolkata; Likely To Be Rested For 3rd T20I
After clean sweeping West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series, team India continued its dominating performance in the white-ball formats and clinched the 3-match T20I series in the 2nd T20I. After the win, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli were seen leaving the bio-bubble in Kolkata.
According to reports, both of these players are likely to be rested for the 3rd T20I. This is due to the rotation policy for the players who play all three formats, so they're provided adequate rest and their workload is managed.
While Kohli & Pant weren't able to do much with the bat in the 1st T20I, they excelled in the 2nd T20I as Virat scored 52 off 41 while Pant thrashed the Windies bowlers with 28-ball-52 not out, and helped India to post a defendable total on the board and win series.
With Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant rested, chances are Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad may make their way to the playing XI and have a chance at getting some game time. However, Gaikwad's inclusion can still be a headache for the time as Ishan Kishan has been struggling in this series and its highly improbable he will be benched. Rohit is sure to open the innings and so Gaikwad may not get his preferred opening position and hence can be benched for this match as well.
Shreyas Iyer on the other hand is expected to come in at #4, with Suryakumar Yadav, who has performed well in the opportunities he has received, will be promoted to #3, Virat Kohli's position.
