India-Australia T20I series to be heard in Hindi Down Under
Melbourne, 25 January- Every ball of the Australia and India three-match Twenty20 International series will be broadcast to Australian audiences in Hindi via the CA Live App and cricket.com.au as part of a new partnership between Cricket Australia (CA) and Indian Link Media Group.
For the first time in more than 80 years of Australian broadcasting, international cricket Down Under will be heard via a local Hindi broadcast.
"The Indian community is growing rapidly in Australia and it includes some of cricket's most passionate fans. Providing our Indian community with a locally-produced Hindi broadcast will add to their cricket experience, connecting them more deeply with Australian cricket," Ben Amarfio, CA executive general manager of media, communications and marketing, said.
"This is an exciting addition to our suite of broadcast options. It adds further choice for cricket fans and recognises that Australian society is becoming far more diverse. CA strives to be Australia's favourite sport and to do so we must be a sport for all Australians and reflective of today's Australia."
Members of Indian Link's commentary team have been drawn from Australia's Indian community, having won the chance to commentate alongside its established broadcast team through a recent online competition.
The Hindi broadcast is part of a wider partnership between CA and Indian Link that has been formed to further connect Australia's Indian community with cricket. The Hindi feed can be heard during the series that begins in Adelaide on Australia Day. Matches in Melbourne on January 29 and Sydney on January 31 complete the series.
