Yet another all-round performance helped India defeat Namibia by nine wickets and sign off the T20 World Cup 2021 with a win.

Chasing a modest total of 133, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul once again gave a terrific start as India smashed 54 runs inside the powerplay.

Rohit, in particular, looked in brilliant rhythm as he smashed 56 runs from 37 balls and in between became the second Indian to score 3000 T20I runs. His innings included seven fours and two sixes.

After the 86-run partnership for the opening wicket, Rahul was joined by Suryakumar Yadav in the 11th over. Surya scored 25 off 19 balls and helped India finish the run chase in the 16th over. Rahul remained unbeaten on 54 from 36 balls.

Earlier, Indian bowlers, especially the spinners, bowled tight lines to restrict Namibia to a modest total of 132.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shared six wickets between each other in their eight overs. Ashwin finished with the figures of 3/20 while Jadeja got 3/16. Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets while conceding 19 runs.

David Wiese was the top scorer for Namibia with 26 runs and Stephan Baard made 21.

This match also marks the end of Virat Kohli as the T20I captain and Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
