India vs Australia, 1st ODI: Finch, Smith Tons Pushes Aus To 374/6
Captain Aaron Finch and Steve Smith hit centuries as the Australian team scores 374/6 against India in the first One-Day International in SCG.
Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first. His decision turned out to be a good one as the team got off to a terrific start. Openers David Warner and Finch scored 51 runs in the first powerplay of 10 overs.
The two openers went on to add 156 runs for the first wicket. India got their first breakthrough with the wicket of David Warner(69) in 28th over of the match. Steve Smith and captain Finch added 108 runs for the second wicket. Finch reached his 17 ODI century and got out in the 40th over for 114.
Glenn Maxwell played a powerful cameo of 45 runs in 19 balls, which included five fours and three sixes. Smith also reached his 10 ODI hundred in just 62 balls.
For India, apart from Mohammed Shami, every bowler gave away runs at more than six runs per over. Shami picked up three wickets while giving away 59 runs.
