India vs West Indies First Test Day 1 Statistical Highlights
22nd July (CRICKETNMORE) - India were in full control at stumps on the opening day of the first test against West Indies at Antigua. India were 302/4 at stumps. Day 1 belongs to Indian Captain Virat Kohli who made many records during his unbeaten 143. Check the Statistical Highlights of Day 1:
Virat Kohli completes 3000 runs in Test Cricket and became the 19th Indian to reach the milestone. He did this in 73 innings. Only Virender Sehwag (55 innings), Mohammad Azharuddin (64), Sunil Gavaskar (66), Gautam Gambhir (66), Rahul Dravid (67),Sachin Tendulkar (67) and Navjot Singh Sidhu (70) achived this feet in lesser number of innings.
Kohli was unbeaten on 143 at stumps on day 1. This is his 5th century as captain in Test matches and all of which have come outside India. He drew level with Mohammad Azharuddin for most centuries by a captain for India away from home.
Virat Kohli's average as captain (outside India) is second only to Don Bradman among those who have batted ten or more innings.
Kohli is the 3rd Indian Captain to score a Test century in West Indies. Only Kapil Dev (100*) in Port of Spain in 1982-83 and Rahul Dravid (146) in 2006 were in the list prior to this.Also Check Kohli's another milestone in Test Cricket.
Kohli also completed 1000 runs as a Test Captain and took 18 innings to complete it. He is the second-quickest to the milestone among India captains. Only Sunil Gavaskar (14 innings) got there in fewer innings than Kohli while MS Dhoni also took 18 innings for the same.
