IPL 2017 or Injured Premier League

April 5 (CRICKETNMORE) - Players ruling out of the tournament is not new in IPL but the number has significantly increased in the 10th edition to an extent that IPL becomes Injured Premier League.

The tenth edition IPL (Indian Premier League) is starting from 5th April but already couple of known players have withdrawn their name because of injuries. While some of them will join team in the middle, most of them have ruled out of the tournament.

A look at the injured XI ahead of IPL 2017:

Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Indian & RCB Captain Virat Kohli will miss few matches in the start but hopeful of joining the team from the second week of April. Kohli who has sustained an injury during India vs Australia third test at Ranchi and will take time to recover .

Quinton de Kock (Delhi Daredevils) - South African wicket-keeper batsman has been ruled out of the tournament on account of the injury in his finger. 

KL Rahul (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Indian opener KL Rahul will miss the IPL 10 as he is going to London for a shoulder surgery.

Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab) - A shoulder injury forced Indian opener Murali to opt out of the tournament.

 

Ravichandaran Ashwin (Rising Pune Supergiants) - Because of an injury he will not participate in IPL 10.

Mitchell Marsh (Rising Pune Supergiants) - The Australian all-rounder sustained an injury during the second test against India. He will IPL 2017 and Chamipons Trophy 2017 as well.

 

Dwayne Bravo (Gujarat Lions) - The West Indian allrounder is one of the most popular player in the league. He will miss the initial few matches because of a hamstring injury.

Ravindra Jadeja (Gujarat Lions) - India and Gujarat Lions all-rounder will miss the opening games of IPL 2017 owing to issues with his spinning finger. The BCCI has advised him two weeks rest.

Umesh Yadav (Kolkata Knight Riders) - Indian fast-bowler has been ruled out of the opening games of IPL 2017 after he complained of lower back soreness post the completion of Australia series. He is expected to take part in the game against Kings XI Punjab, scheduled to take place on April 13.

 

Tim Southee (Mumbai Indians) - The fast bowler from New Zealand suffered a grade one tear on his left hamstring during New Zealand’s Test series against South Africa last month. The franchise is yet to take a call on his participation.

Martin Guptill (Kings XI Punjab) - The New Zealand opener will miss start of the season due to hamstrings. He’ll stay with the team right from the start but won’t be available for selection. His recovery will be monitored by New Zealand team physio Tommy Simsek, who will travel with him to India.
