IPL 2022: Lucknow's 'Super' Win Against Chennai

A collective batting performance powered Lucknow Super Giants to a six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in the 7th match of the IPL 2022 played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. 

Chasing a target of 211, Lucknow got off to a terrific start as KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock smacked 55 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. The duo continued to smack the CSK bowlers and added 99 runs for the first wicket in 10.2 overs before Dwaine Pretorious removed Rahul, who scored 40. 

Tushar Deshpande got Manish Pandey out in the next over to bring CSK back into the game. de Kock, who scored 61 off 45 balls, got out in the 15th over to hang the match in the balance. 

However, Evin Lewis was absolutely smocking the ball at the other end and added 32 runs in 16 balls with Deepak Hooda. The match-turning over was 19th when CSK handed the ball to Shivam Dube.

Ayush Badonia and Lewis smashed 25 runs in that over to bring the equation down to nine from the final over. Badonia smacked a six on the first legal delivery as LSG registered their first win in IPL. Lewis remained unbeaten at 55 off 23 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. 

Earlier, Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube helped CSK score 210 in the first inning. Uthappa smashed a fifty in 27 balls while Dube scored 49 in 30 balls to get CSK past the 200-run mark. 

Moeen Ali(35), Ambati Rayudu(27), Ravindra Jadeja(17), and MS Dhoni (16) gave valuable contributions to Chennai's strong batting performance. 

Avesh Khan, Andrew Tye, and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each for LSG. For CSK, Pretorious picked two crucial wickets while Tushar Deshpande and Dwayne Bravo chipped in with one wicket each.
