IPL 2022 Mega Auctions Likely To Be In Held December With Two New Teams Added
The BCCI has started its preparations for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, which is likely to be held in December later this year. The Mega Auction will not only see two new teams competing but also a rise in salary purse and change in retention policy of players.
According to a report in Times Of India, the tender documents for new franchises will be out in mid-august, and by mid-October, the two new IPL franchises will be announced.
The salary purse of each IPL franchise will be increased by Rs 5 crores which means it will be now Rs 90 crores from Rs 85 crores. The purse will increase to Rs 95 crores and eventually to Rs 100 crores before the IPL 2024 season begins.
Franchises can retain up to four players but with two conditions - either three Indians and one overseas or two Indians and two overseas.
The IPL 2021 is currently on standby after being postponed in May due to the Covid situation in India and will resume in September in UAE with 31 matches still to play.
