Yashasvi Jaiswal starred in his comeback game as he helped Rajasthan Royals to a six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in match 52 of the IPL 2022 played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Chasing 190, Rajasthan got off to a brilliant start as they smashed 67 runs inside the powerplay. Jos Buttler scored 30 off 16 balls before he got out in the 4th over but Sanju Samson and Jaiswal continued the attack and added 39 runs in the next 25 balls. Samson hit a quickfire 23 off 12 balls with the help of four fours.

Jaiswal then added 56 runs in 37 balls for the third wicket with Devdutt Padikkal. Jaiswal was the aggressor and scored 68 runs in 41 balls to perfectly set up the run chase for the Royals. After hitting nine fours and two sixes, Yashasvi once again went to slog one over the boundary but got caught.

Padikkal wasn't timing the ball well so Shimron Hetmyer had to attack right from the beginning and he did that to perfection as the two added 41 runs in 27 balls for the fourth wicket. Padikkal's 31-run knock off 32 balls came to an end in the 19th over but the target was well within the reach and Hetmyer chased it down with two balls to spare. Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 31 off 16 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Earlier, a combined batting performance took Punjab to 189/5 in the first inning.

Jonny Bairstow led the charge with his 40-ball 56 including eight fours and a six. He got good supprt from Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who hit 27 off 18 with the help of two fours and two sixes.

Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone gave the perfect finish to the Kings. Where Livingstone smacked 22 off 14 balls (1x4, 2x6), Jitesh remained unbeaten on 38 off 18 with the help of four fours and two sixes.
