Women's World Cup: In the concluded 3rd match of the ongoing Women's World Cup 2022, Australia managed to defeat New Zealand by 12 runs. However, the match wasn't finished till the last over of the match, where Jess Jonassen pulled off a miraculous catch to dismiss the England all-rounder Katherine Brunt.
England women's team need 16 runs to win off the last over, and Natalie Sciver 108 (83) and Katherine Brunt 24(20) were at the crease with 4 wickets in hand. Australian left-arm orthodox bowler Jess Jonassen was bowling the ultimate over of the match, and she titled the odds in her team's favour with a fabulous catch.
On the 2nd delivery of the over, English all-rounder Katherine Brunt toe-ended a drive that was in her slot. However, the ball didn't find the middle of the bat but regardless the ball was travelling swiftly. Jonassen stuck her left hand and caught the ball in thin air, failing to believe how the ball managed to stick to her hand.
The bowler smiled after the dismissal and covered her face in disbelief. The batter also smiled at the amazing attempt by Jonassen as she walked back towards the Pavillion.

While talking about the match, the Australian women's team posted a total of 310/3 in 50 overs after being asked to bat first by England. Opener Haynes scored 130 runs off 131 balls with 14 fours and a six while captain Meg Lanning scored 86 runs off 110 balls to lead Australia to a total above 300. In reply, English women put up a worthy fight but in the end failed to finish the match. Tammy Beaumont scored 74 & Natalie Sciver remained not out on 109 as England women lost the match by 12 runs.
