MI vs PBKS IPL 2022: Kieron Pollard has been a magnificent all-rounder and finisher for the Mumbai Indians over the years. The West Indian captain was retained by Mumbai Indians, and yet the explosive batter has failed to unveil his true self in the 2022 season of the IPL.

Mumbai Indians, having already lost their first 4 matches this season, were desperately looking for a win against Punjab Kings. MI kept up with the run rate while chasing a target close to 200, and looked at one point as if they will finally register their first win with Suryakumar Yadav playing a match-winning knock.

MI required 48 runs off 4 overs, and Suryakumar 22(19) & Pollard 9(10) were at the crease. Mumbai fans were hoping that the explosive pair will blast through and attain the 2 points. On the first ball of the 17th over being bowled by Vaibhav Arora, Pollard sent a full outside off delivery towards long-on. The batter simply walked for the run and SKY saw Odean Smith committing a misfield and screamed for a second run.

Pollard raised his hand and said no, however SKY had already crossed before deciding to go back, and hence Pollard had to sacrifice his wicket to let the set batter stay at the crease. The West Indian was then seen consoling the Indian batter to keep up the spirit and finish the match for Mumbai Indians with a win.

However, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed in the 19th over being bowled by Kagiso Rabada. SKY scored 43 runs in 30 balls with a four and 4 sixes but failed to finish the match for Mumbai Indians.

While talking about the match, MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss & opted to field first against PBKS in the 23rd match of IPL 2022. Punjab opener Dhawan (70) and Mayank (52) powered Punjab Kings to 198/5 in 20 overs with solid fifties. Thampi picked up 2 wickets while Unadkat, Bumrah & M Ashwin managed 1 wicket each.
